Skerpa Design, is based in Montreal and has been in business since 2004. Daniel Thibault, who launched Skerpa Design, has more than 18 years experience in industrial design since he graduated from the School of Industrial Design (University of Montreal). Skerpa Design inc. is specialized in innovative products research and development in preparation for their merchandising and sale in profitable markets. Its specialty resides in the design and development for sporting and outdoor products, more specifically for the footwear industry without limiting to these. As you know, an industrial designer can esthablish links between many facets such as structures, materials, colors, textures and function as well taking into consideration the aesthetical, ergonomics, final users needs, security aspects, marketing, production constrains, sales forces needs and distribution network. Over the years, ecological aspect has been an important part of industrial concerns. Recently, Skerpa Design won the first prize of the First NOVAE Ecoconception Contest for its optimized plastic watering can, in the business concept category. This contest organized by NOVAE and IDP (Institute of Products development) was presented by ALCOA in Montreal, Canada, last May 2011. This contest was such a great opportunity to demonstrate that ecological aspect as well R&D and Design should get more involved together as part of solution for a better world, whatever the size of businesses.
